An easy vegetarian meal plan for beginners

How to start cooking vegetarian meals for a week without overthinking it: one shape for every day, meals that repeat, and one step at a time.

Starting to cook vegetarian meals can stall on the deciding: what to make, what to buy, what to do when a day goes off script. An easy vegetarian meal plan for beginners settles those questions once, so each day only asks you to cook the next meal.

Answer three questions first

Settle these before the week starts:

  • When do you start? Pick a day that leaves time to shop first.
  • Who are you cooking for? One person or two changes how much you buy, not what you cook.
  • Anything to avoid? Decide once, and leave it out of every meal and every list.

Daybowl asks the same three questions when you set it up, and the plan, the recipes and the shopping lists follow your answers.

Give every day the same shape

Decide what a day looks like before you pick any dishes:

  • Breakfast: one dish.
  • Lunch: a main dish and a side.
  • Dinner: a main dish and a side.

That is Daybowl’s everyday default. With the shape set, a day is three meals to fill, not a menu to invent. Extras, like a soup or a fruit bowl, can wait for a slower day.

Let meals repeat

You do not need a new dish at every meal. Choose familiar meals and let them come back during the week. The second time you cook a dish, you already know how it goes. Daybowl’s plan works the same way, with familiar recurring meals.

Shop for a few days at a time

One trip for the whole week makes a long list. A few days at a time keeps it short. Check what is already in your kitchen, then buy only the rest. In Daybowl, check items as “Have it” and show only items to buy. Read more in shopping for a reset without overbuying.

Cook the step in front of you

At the counter, one step is enough. Read it, do it, then move to the next. Daybowl’s cook mode works this way: it opens at the first instruction and shows one image and one instruction per step.

Let a missed meal go

Some meals will not happen, and that is fine. Cook the next one. In Daybowl, each meal can be marked Done or Skipped, and you can continue from another day or restart the plan. Skipping is part of the plan, not a failure of it.

Start with Day 1

If you would rather not plan the week yourself, Daybowl’s 14-day vegetarian reset is built this way. Day 1 is Oat Porridge for breakfast, Chickpea Salad with Roti for lunch, and Mixed Vegetable Curry with Roti for dinner.

Day 1, its recipes, its cook mode and its selected-day shopping list are free. Daybowl Premium, a one-time purchase, unlocks Days 2 to 14. For the full picture, read how the 14-day reset is built.
