Shopping for a reset without overbuying

Shop for one day, the next three or seven, or all 14. Check off what you already have, then share only what is left to buy.

Two weeks of cooking can turn into one very large shopping trip. Daybowl’s Shop tab lets you choose how much of the plan to shop for at once, so the list stays the size you want.

Pick a scope

Shopping can be scoped to:

  1. a selected day,
  2. Today,
  3. the next three days,
  4. the next seven days,
  5. all 14 days, or
  6. added recipes only.

The next three and next seven days end at Day 14, so a list never runs past the end of the plan.

Which scopes you can use depends on access. Day 1’s selected-day shopping list is free, and the broader shopping scopes come with Daybowl Premium.

Check what you already have

Before you go, walk the list against your kitchen. When something is already there, check it as “Have it”.

Then switch the list to show only items to buy. What you have drops out of view, and the list that remains is the trip.

Share only what is missing

When you are ready, share or copy the missing items. That happens through the iPhone share sheet or the clipboard, and only when you do it. No export or destination information is sent to the developer.

That makes it easy to send the list to whoever is doing the shopping, in whatever app you already use.

Start a new trip

When it is time to shop again, start a new trip.

Portions and avoided foods carry through

The list follows the portions you chose, one person or two, and supported numeric measures scale to sensible fractions.

If you have chosen ingredients to avoid, or turned on Hide allergen & high-risk foods, that applies to your shopping lists as well as to recipes and the plan. Safety adaptation is free.

Three habits for a smaller trip

  • Shop small and often. Today or the next three days makes a shorter list than all 14.
  • Mark “Have it” at home, not at the shop. It is the quickest way to cut the list down.
  • Share the list with the person who is buying, so the missing items are all they see.
