Why Day 1 is Oat Porridge, Chickpea Salad and Mixed Vegetable Curry

A walkthrough of the free first day. Three familiar dishes, Roti at lunch and dinner, the optional extras, and how to shop for it.

Day 1 of Daybowl is free, and its title in the app sets the tone: “Familiar meals, one step at a time.” Here is what is on the menu, and one very good reason to learn it well.

The menu

  • Breakfast: Oat Porridge. Optional: Pomegranate bowl.
  • Lunch: Chickpea Salad with Roti. Optional: Drumstick Soup.
  • Dinner: Mixed Vegetable Curry with Roti. Optional: Ragi Dosa.

That is the everyday default in miniature: one breakfast dish, then two dishes each at lunch and dinner. The optional additions stay off unless you choose them.

A reason to learn these three

The plan uses familiar recurring meals, so the first day is not a sample of something different. It is the pattern the two weeks follow.

Learn these three well, and the habits you build here carry into every day after it.

Cooking it

Each dish opens in cook mode at its first instruction, with one image and one instruction per step and compact navigation to move between them.

When you set up Daybowl, you choose whether you are cooking for one person or two. That choice is shared across the recipe, cook mode, shopping and sharing, and supported numeric measures scale to sensible fractions.

When a meal is done, mark it Done. If it is not happening today, mark it Skipped.

Shopping for it

Day 1’s selected-day shopping list is free, and the day’s shopping is right there on Today. A few things make it quick:

  • Check items as “Have it” when they are already in your kitchen.
  • Switch the list to show only items to buy.
  • Share or copy the missing items, through the share sheet or the clipboard.

If you have chosen ingredients to avoid, or turned on Hide allergen & high-risk foods, those choices apply to the shopping list as well as the recipes.

Then Day 2

Days 2 to 14 come with Daybowl Premium, a one-time purchase. Each day keeps the same shape as Day 1, with its own recipes, cook mode and shopping list.
